What is a peel?

A peel is a treatment which involves the application of a variety of chemical solutions to remove the damaged outer layers of dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. It is extremely beneficial for many skin conditions such as Hyperpigmentation, Rosacea, Acne, Sun Damage, and Aging skins. By removing the build-up of dead skin cells and stimulating the regenerative process, you will notice marked improvements in the formation of wrinkles and fine lines, texture and tone of the skin, hydration, reduced pore size, clearing of blemishes and more balanced oil production and an overall healthier skin appearance.

What are the different types of peels?

All Rhonda Allison treatment procedures are considered superficial; they do not penetrate beyond the epidermis or papillary dermis.
They are not to be confused with medical or physician-strength peels that affect the reticular (lower) dermis. We have 3 levels of peels.

Proper home care is a must after a peel!

There are specific instructions to be followed after your skin peel – this is as important as the peel it's self. Post care will include occlusive healing balms, epidermal growth factor (cell renewal and wound repair), calming, soothing topical’s to reduce itching and inflammation, and always apply a sun screen!
When the skin peel is completed and we have determined the skin is healed, daily skin care is essential. The most important part of a home care routine is a cleanser, a serum and a sunblock. Next in importance is a supportive cell rejuvenator. These are the basics. Additional specialty products, such as exfoliators, antioxidants, eye serums, nighttime moisturizers, AHAs, vitamin C, retinol, enzymes, masks, and topical correctives may be added to enhance and maintain results.

What will a series of peels do for you?

A series is 3-6-9 treatments performed at regular intervals.
The right peel can end acne and soften the scars that come with it. Salicylic acid based peels dive deep into skin to unclog pores while also skimming the surface to erode blackheads and fade post-pimple marks. Another advantage of salicylic acid: It lingers in the pores, where it continues to keep them clear over time.

Nothing controls Melasma better. There isn't a permanent cure for the recurring sun-triggered dark patches brought on by hormonal surges (like those caused by pregnancy and the Birth Control Pill), but chemical peels (paired with at-home treatments, high-SPF sunscreen, and strict sun avoidance) offer the best fighting chance.

Some benefits from receiving a series peels are:

  • Removes the build-up of dead skin cells - giving the skin a smooth soft appearance.
  • Stimulates the regenerative process
  • Decreases wrinkles and fine lines
  • Improves skin texture, tone, and hydration
  • Brightens the skin
  • Reduces pore size
  • Helps clearing of blemishes
  • Promotes a balanced oil production and healthier skin
  • Allows better penetration of home products
  • Tones skin and stimulates collagen activity
  • Provides antioxidant support and moisturizing benefits
  • Accelerates cell turnover and promotes skin lighten

What about skin of color?

There are chemical peels that are safe to use on every skin color without risk of hyperpigmentation (usually a worry with darker complexions). We now know that using low percentages of multiple acids gives a better outcome with less irritation than a single acid at a higher strength, bringing about great results for a skin of color.
