Diamond Microdermabrasion is a cutting edge facial technique that provides advanced results in:
Reduced Wrinkles: Microdermabrasion works through mechanical exfoliation, and it is beneficial to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by removing outer layers of dead skin. Of course, it is advised for a client to undergo a series of 3 to 6 microdermabrasion treatments, which will continually remove the outer layers of dead skin. When the outer layers of dead skin are removed, it will stimulate new cell growth so that fresh and new skin pushes forth. This can begin to remove many existing deep fine lines and wrinkles, as well as to prevent new signs of age from appearing on the skin.
Treat Acne Scars: One great use of microdermabrasion is to reduce deep scars and pockmarks, while evening out the skin tone. In fact, many clients prefer the use of microdermabrasion for other areas of their body, like the upper back décolleté and shoulder areas, which can commonly have acne scarring. If a client has suffered from severe acne, the microdermabrasion treatment can be used in a series to remove dead and dark scarred skin cells so that new skin can be brought forth. Of course, it is important to understand that microdermabrasion is not done on new or open acne lesions.
Even Out the Skin Tone: So many clients suffer from hyper pigmentation, which is brown pigmentation and damage caused by unprotected sun exposure. A series of microdermabrasion treatments will work to remove this dark and damaged skin so that the skin tone looks even overall. This is perfect for any clients that rely upon heavy makeup to cover up hyper pigmentation and scars on their skin. Even more so, many female clients will appreciate this for their décolleté area, which can often become leathery and damaged due to sun exposure.
Balance the Skin: Even if a client has dry or Rosacea skin, they can undergo a microdermabrasion treatment to remove dead and flaking skin for better product absorption. When done gently, a microdermabrasion treatment can reduce dryness by balancing out the skin to alleviate a number of skin concerns.

Diamond Microdermabrasion FAQs
Microdermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. This process works in a series to achieve the best results. We use a Diamond tipped wand to abrade the surface of your skin.
Your skin will first of all be cleansed with a cleanser appropriate to your skin type. We then will follow with the microdermabrasion wand smoothly over your skin, we will then tone the skin, apply a hydrating mask followed by a treatment serum and moisturizer, completing your treatment with Jane Iredale Powder SPF20. The entire procedure should take 60 minutes.
Overall, microdermabrasion will reduce the appearance of wrinkles, remove acne scars, clear up blackheads, minimize the size of the pores, reduce sun damage, and even out the skin tone. Microdermabrasion also helps to boost collagen production to provide firming and toning to the complexion.
Microdermabrasion is a safe and gentle procedure with no downtime. The client will need to protect his or her skin with moisturizer and sun block for 48 hours after the treatment and may experience mild redness and sloughing/peeling. However, the client can return to work immediately, which is why many clients prefer to have microdermabrasion treatments on their lunch breaks since there is no downtime.
When it comes to microdermabrasion, one treatment will not provide instant results. That is why it is important to have a series of microdermabrasion services, 3 to 6 are recommended for the best results. These initial 3 to 6 treatments can be spaced one week apart, and from that point, the client can continue to receive one treatment on a monthly basis for the best maintenance.
The thickness of the epidermis is increased because new cells are being produced more rapidly and the cells themselves are larger and healthier. The cells of the lower layers of the epidermis are knitted tighter in a more consistent "basket weave" configuration, instead of a haphazard arrangement. The barrier function of the epidermis is disrupted for the first 24 to 48 hours causing the skin to be drier than usual. During the cell reproduction of cells the fibroblasts that make up the collagen fibers are increased and are thicker more tightly packed and more organized. The number of elastin fibers also increased and they are orientated vertically instead of horizontally giving the dermal layer more "spring".
Depending on the area treated, you will notice an improvement in your skin's appearance after your treatment. Stretch marks and acne scars will be less obvious. Age spots and fine lines are reduced, and many Microdermabrasion clients report that their skin seems softer, tighter, smoother and younger looking.
Men can use microdermabrasian just as women can. The procedure and results are the same; there are no side effects or risks.
By removing the top layer of the skin, professional micro abrasion diminishes or even removes superficial acne scarring. Deeper acne scarring requires a more invasive procedure, like a deep chemical peel or laser skin resurfacing.
The regular crystal microdermabrasion technology involves the use of a special, hand-held device that propels a high-speed flow of aluminum oxide crystals onto the skin. At the same time, the machine's vacuum system sucks away dirt, dead cells and used crystals.
Aluminum oxide crystals have been the most commonly used abrasive agent for the last 20 years (no wonder they were so popular in microdermabrasion). Aluminum oxide is the second hardest mineral (diamonds are first). There has been a link between aluminum use on the body (deodorants) and cancer. Sodium bicarbonate crystals are an organic alternative to aluminum oxide crystals but they are a lot softer and less effective in microdermabrasion. They are used on patients with hyper pigmentation and can be easily washed off after treatment (sodium bicarbonate is water-soluble).
The diamond dermabrasion system, on the other hand, replaces the micro-crystal flow with a laser cut diamond tip wand. Areas closer to the eyes and mouth can be abraded more accurately with diamond abrasion (no risk of stray crystals causing damage, getting into your eyes, nose or being ingested). No risk to the operator for repetitive exposure. Other than that, crystal-free diamond head microdermabration works in the same way traditional microabrasion does. Diamond microderm machines usually come with wands of varied size and coarseness for different skin types and depths of resurfacing. The wand tip is made of natural laser cut diamond chips which polish the skin and remove dead cells, which are then vacuumed back into a waste filter. Many professionals prefer natural diamond tips because they are easier to control don't irritate the skin and give a more precise treatment (natural minerals are less likely to trigger adverse reactions).
